In our daily lives, we often focus on external factors to achieve happiness and success. We strive to get that promotion, earn more money, or find the perfect partner. However, many of us overlook an essential aspect of our well-being: our inner selves. Taking the time to work on our inner selves can lead to profound personal growth and a more fulfilling life.
We all have different parts of our inner-selves that we keep hidden,
even from ourselves.
We may suppress certain emotions or behaviors that we feel are unacceptable or shameful. These hidden parts of ourselves are what Carl Jung referred to as our shadow. Working on the shadow self, or doing shadow work, is a process of exploring, healing, and integrating these hidden parts of ourselves. It can be challenging work, but it can also be incredibly transformative and rewarding.
Another way of looking at it is referring to the shadow part of the self, as a messenger. This messenger is knocking at our door letting us know that we are holding a belief that is not in alignment with who we truly are.
All pain is resistance to the true, authentic self.
When we open that door and listen to the message, we can understand why we are doing what we are doing, we found the root cause. Many times, we just react from our subconscious mind, without even thinking about it. We got triggered by a circumstance or situation, or someone said something that brought up that messenger to knock at our door.
One of the most important benefits of doing shadow work (also called parts therapy), is that allows us to live more authentically. When we suppress parts of ourselves, we are not living in alignment with who we truly are. This can lead to feelings of disconnection, anxiety, and depression. By bringing our shadow self or messenger into the light, we can live more fully and freely, in balance with our authentic self.
Journaling is an excellent way to discover by yourself, those parts hidden. This journal will guide you easily towards an integrated parts of your inner-self:
The best method to find and communicate with those parts is the use of a holistic approach in hypnotherapy. A holistic approach in hypnosis easily accesses our subconscious mind to transform the messenger into a healed and balanced part, ready to be integrated with our authentic self, the true inner self.
Hypnosis also can help us rediscover, reconnect to our true self, authentic self. The version we are today, not who we were 10 or 15 years ago. As life goes on, sometimes we forget our essence, our authenticity. For example, what career would you choose if you were to feel free and safe to express yourself in your unique way? What would you feel passionate about?
And not by what you should do, due to financial or judgmental issues.
The relationship with ourselves is the blueprint for all relationships.
Another benefit of doing shadow work (listening to our messengers) is that it can improve our relationships. The relationship with oneself it is the blueprint for all relationships. When we are not aware of our shadow self, we may project our repressed emotions and behaviors onto others. For example, if we have a deep-seated fear of abandonment, we may push away those we love. By doing shadow work, we can become more aware of our projections and learn to take responsibility for our own emotions and behaviors. This can lead to more fulfilling and harmonious relationships.
Finally, doing shadow work can lead to greater personal growth and spiritual development. When we listen to our shadow self, we are aware of our own limitations and vulnerabilities. This can be uncomfortable, but it can also be incredibly empowering and transformative. By accepting those shadow parts and working to transform them into balance to integrate them with the true/authentic self, we create more freedom to express ourselves through our truth, our unique expression. We also develop greater resilience and compassion for ourselves and others. We can start to see ourselves as part of a larger whole and connect more deeply with the world around us.
In conclusion, working on one’s inner self and doing shadow work can be challenging, but it is also incredibly important and rewarding. By exploring and integrating our hidden parts, we can live more authentically, improve our relationships, and experience greater personal growth and spiritual development. So, if you want to live your best self, consider taking the time to do some shadow work through holistic hypnotherapy. Your future self will thank you for it.
